Hardware and Software Requirements

What are the hardware requirements for using PEKAT VISION?

PEKAT VISION requires an NVIDIA GPU or an ARM-based device such as NVIDIA Jetson. Supported GPUs include those with Compute Capabilities 7.5, 8.6, and 8.9, as well as Jetson devices with 7.2 and 8.7. You can verify your GPU’s Compute Capability on NVIDIA’s website.

When selecting a GPU for your application:

  • VRAM (GPU memory) determines the number of projects/models you can run simultaneously and the inspection resolution.
  • CUDA core count and frequency influence inspection and training speed.

What are the software requirements for using PEKAT VISION?

PEKAT VISION is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and embedded systems.

Integration / Communication

What cameras can I integrate with PEKAT VISION?

PEKAT VISION natively supports cameras from Datalogic, Basler, and Toshiba. It also includes a universal driver for cameras using the GenICam interface. Other manufacturers can be supported on a case-by-case basis.

Can PEKAT VISION be integrated with Siemens S7 PLCs?

Yes, PEKAT VISION supports output to Siemens S7 PLCs natively.

Is PEKAT VISION compatible with other PLCs?

Yes, integration with non-Siemens PLCs is possible, but it requires additional coding.

What programming languages are supported for the HTTP API or SDK?

You can integrate PEKAT VISION using Python, C#, or C++.

Does PEKAT VISION support Profinet communication?

The current version does not include a dedicated Profinet communication function. However, you can use the PEKAT + IMPACT mode on the MX-G2000 Vision Processor to access IMPACT’s communication options.

How long does it take to transfer inspection results to a PLC?

The average transfer time is 10-50 milliseconds.

Image Processing

What is the smallest defect PEKAT VISION can detect?

  • Minimum feature size (all modules): 8×8 pixels.
  • Detector module: Minimum rectangle size is 32×32 pixels.
  • OCR module: Minimum detectable width is 25 pixels.

How can I process images in parallel with PEKAT VISION?

  • Parallel processing is possible if you run multiple projects simultaneously and your hardware has sufficient resources.
  • Within a single project, images are processed sequentially.

What image formats does PEKAT VISION support?

PEKAT VISION supports the following formats: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .tiff, .tif.

How can I request a demo or feasibility study for PEKAT VISION?

To request a demo or a feasibility study, please contact your sales representative directly or email us at .

Licensing

How does the licensing of PEKAT VISION work?

PEKAT VISION offers two license types:

  • Runtime License: A one-time purchase with no expiration. This license allows you to run PEKAT VISION for inspections but does not support training new models.
  • Development License: Typically billed annually. This license allows you to both train new models and run them for inspections.

Are there any restrictions on the size or number of projects I can create with PEKAT VISION?

There are no software-imposed restrictions. The only limitation is the available storage space on your system.

How many inspections can I run at the same time with a PEKAT VISION license?

Each PEKAT VISION license supports up to nine simultaneous inspections. Keep in mind that each project requires at least 5-6 GB of VRAM. To run multiple inspections concurrently, you’ll need a GPU with sufficient memory capacity.

What should I do if I want to upgrade from a Runtime License to a Development License?

Simply reach out to your sales representative or contact us via email at . Our team will assist you with the upgrade process.

Can I transfer my PEKAT VISION license to another computer or device?

Yes, if you have a hardware dongle, you can plug it into another computer with PEKAT VISION installed and use the software there. However, a software license is tied to a specific computer and cannot be transferred.
